Paper cup Lemang (glutinous rice) Hari Raya Special!!
Description
Lemang is a coconut rice dish. It is made of glutinous rice,
coconut milk, salt. Lemang is cook in a hollowed bamboo tube coated with banana
leaves and cooked on an open fire.
Usually the process will takes about 4-5hours.
Lemang is one of the dish MUST have during Hari Raya celebration. Lemang goes well with rendang, chicken curry, serunding and etc.
Ingredients
500g glutinous rice
1 cup coconut milk
2 cups water
Salt to taste
Sugar
5 paper cups
Banana leaves
2 cups water
Salt to taste
Sugar
5 paper cups
Banana leaves
Method of Preparation
1. Wash the glutinous rice, soak in the water for 3-4hours and remove the excess water
2.
Fold the banana
leaves and insert into the paper cups. Leave aside
3.
Add the coconut
milk, water, sugar & salt in a bowl and mix it well.

Fill the cups
with glutinous rice and add the coconut milk mixture
5.
Steam for 30-40
minutes.
6.
Set aside to cool
and remove the paper cups
7.
Pre-heat the oven
180°C / bake for another 15-20minutes
until the banana leaves wrappers are slightly dried out
8.
Leave them to cool before slicing
Lemang goes well with rendang, chicken curry,
serunding and etc.
